White wine is traditional with poultry like turkey. But some people feel red or rosé wines are better at Thanksgiving. In this article, wine writer David Lawrason says "I would go with reds to wade into the gravy, savoury dressing and especially the dark meat."
It's true many Thanksgiving foods have strong flavours. Red wine may be better for that reason.
