Seven Israeli citizens have been extradited (sent from their country to face charges) to the U.S.
They are charged with stealing $2 million from elderly Americans. The charges say they did this by:
- buying lists of people who entered contests
- calling these people and telling them they had won prizes
- asking for "fees" and "taxes" so the prize could be sent.
There was never really any prize. (People should not believe anyone who asks for money to send them a prize. If you win it, it will get to you.)
The U.S. Attorney says criminals in other countries who harm Americans will be brought to the U.S. and charged.
